You’re an architect looking for a pocket door, but where do you start?  With over 3 million results when you search 'pocket door system’ on Google, we understand that the search for the perfect one can get overwhelming.  Does this sound like your predicament?

If yes, then this blog is for you!

We’re going to take you through 7 key points that make our pocket door system different to others.

1. Fully self-supporting

Our kit is self-supporting, the only kit on the market that can genuinely boast this. This means there is no obstruction to running services above your pocket. The Envo system is a fully structural system that takes the door's weight without a goalpost structure. It is also fully compatible with socket boxes. The strong and rigid structure means you can apply tiles directly to our kit up to 2.8m high without needing to reinforce the walls and compromising the thickness of your wall.

2. Made from extruded aluminium

Unlike other pocket door systems in the market which are made from lightweight and flimsy steel profiles, the Envo pocket door system is made of robust extruded aluminium.

So, what’s the difference?

Aluminium is one of the most widely used nonferrous metals in the world, and for good reason. It’s light, strong and flexible - just what you want in a pocket door system.

3. Delivered, cut to size

Instead of waiting till the system gets to site before cutting down to fit, everything we deliver to you is already cut to size. This not only saves a lot of time on-site but allows for a smoother result too, as you’re not reliant on a hasty site finish.

4. Benefits of retrofit

With the Envo pocket door system, the encasing walls can be fully closed up before installing the door – thanks to our unique fineline detail. The runners can also be installed and removed at any time via an access pocket.  In contrast, many other systems are designed so that either the door must be installed first, or you must leave one side of the wall open for installation, allowing for the risk of damage during construction.

5. Adjustability once installed

You have full adjustability of your door once it has been installed.  Once the door is in the pocket, you can adjust the position of the runners, door, or where the door finishes in the opening to the left or right, up or down, without removing the door from the pocket or leaving anything unfinished.

But why would you want to do this?

Well, if the door has been installed incorrectly and it doesn’t close completely, or the floor level hasn’t been planned out to be compatible with the door size, the door can be adjusted without having to take down the wall.

6. Invisible top track

You get a pocket door with an invisible top track. What does this mean? Instead of an unsightly track set into a gaping 60mm void where the door runs, we have a discreet and concealed top track.  Often, other systems need a void in the ceiling which means an exposed track.  With the Envo pocket door system, you just have a fine 18mm line, almost like a shadow gap, where the track is concealed.

7. Design freedom

What style are you going for on the project? With this system, the style can be frameless, with a shadow gap, a traditional architrave or even tiled. Furthermore, it is also possible to have split finishes both sides.  It’s up to you.

Hopefully these seven key differences between pocket door systems on the market and the Envo Slide system have been useful for you.
